Lately, I've been restocking and working on new recipes. I recently entered a recipe to a food contest at Bristol Farms featuring peaches and vanilla. Of course, my recipe was for soap featuring those two ingredients. I know I won't win, but thinking outside the box is what I do. Besides which I have a new recipe to add to my line of soaps. You'll be seeing some new and beautiful soaps soon coming. ♥

Just soaping a bit and finally made a soap with coffee and pumpkin. I named this beauty Pumpkin Chai Latte. I infused olive oil with coffee and blended these into my basic tallow recipe. I do love what tallow contributes to my soapmaking. Used my eggnog recipe and pureed pumpkin to add to the base oils and scented it with fo/eo coffee and spice blend. It took a while for the fragrance to develop but now I'm in love with the spiced aroma of pumpkin bread and the subtle note of black coffee. Turned out different than I thought, but still pleased.
Bastile soap made from olive and caster oils. Unscented. Cure time a few months. It'll be a while. Better make a few mo' batches...
This contest I entered while thinking outside the box. It was for edibles only, not to bathe with. Enough said...I've got a new recipe to get busy with. Challenges can come with benefits. I just may add this to my soap line. Look for it! Sometimes I wait over-thinking an idea, though it's been tried and done by others. Maybe I was a bit intimidated by some ingredients how they would affect the final product. No clear answer for that (until you try), but I took the plunge and got good-good results after sitting on the fence for so long. Haha! This is my take on the theme...Avocado and cucumber blend beautifully! Who'd of thunk it (Scary me, duh)? I'm on the late freight is all I'm saying. Just so it doesn't become too sissy, sage and a touch of patchouli counterpoints without taking over. I won't kiss and tell my fragrance blend, but it is quite interesting in that it is a fresh green with bottom earth notes mingled with musk. I hope you will enjoy this "green-light" herbal infusion of bubbly goodness to try for yourself and tell me what you think. I do welcome your comments. Forest your garden green-♥. All grown up for grown ups. I do love Friday nights. I hope you enjoy yours. -VDub I've been waiting to use this quote for a long time. From "Something's Gotta Give."
Julian Mercer: I knew you'd smell good. Erica: It's just... soap. The story goes, the Aztec king, Montezuma loved his "hot" cocoa deep and dark. This elixir was made made with not only the cocoa bean, but included spices. It was served to the king in a golden goblet at each request; a different golden vessel at each request which was then thrown away. I would say that is quite decadent, and so is this luxurious soap. I call this soap Montezuma and it's made with cocoa, eggnog, red clay, whole orange, coffee, oat flour, turbinado sugar...and scented with my personal blend of chocolate-amber, vanilla-oakmoss, cassia, orange and coffee. It smells edible and sexy at the same time. Ready in 4 weeks. is made it with cocoa, eggnog, red clay, whole orange, coffee, oat flour, turbinado sugar...and scented with my personal blend of chocolate-amber, vanilla-oakmoss, cassia, orange and coffee. It smells edible and sexy at the same time. The cut came out better than I thought it would. It smells so yummy-sexy-good, good enough to eat, but don't... "You so Almondy!" is a milk-based soap (eggnog) made with honey, and oats. I fragranced this soap with honey almond blended with vanilla, tobacco, oakmoss, nutmeg, and cognac. It is embellished with pumpkin spice tea. This is a very nourishing soap with a heady fragrance This is not an old fashioned almond. It's a romantically potent aroma that will make you swoon to the maximum!!! And last I made this soap which I named Chocolate Kush. Chocolate Kush is not to be mistaken for subtlety. Just look at it. Fragrantly bold and colorful. I blended cannabis flower with chocolate, musk, amber, patchouli, juniper, and lichen. There's a lot of "bottom" in this fragrance that makes it a true earth scent. I used a beer recipe, with soy, oats, nopal, flaxseed, marshmallow root and honey. Topped with gold mica and chocolate rooibos tea. You will definitely pause for this beauty!
This is where I'm heading right after I write this post. A warm bath is so inviting after a stressful day to wash away all the muck and transport you to a more serene state of mind. Here is where I submerge and let go. Here is where I caress my body with much deserved kindness that I didn't give myself during the grind of the day. It is my baptism and I don't want to rush, I'd rather linger in lost tranquility just this moment. Soon enough it will be over and things back to normal, but for now...
We have a joke in my family since we were kids about bathing. It makes no sense to anyone but us (totally an inside joke). My brother, Mark to this day loves to mock me when I take a bath. He says, "You can't get clean." I so beg to differ with him on this, I can get clean and I'm on my way to get clean. I'll be clean from head to toe and while I relax my brain is going to rid itself sludge too. Suffice it to say I know what Mark means, because as soon as you get out the tub the cooties jump back on you. But that's another story I can talk about later. In the meantime all of you have warm and wet bubbly dreams of getting to a peaceful place of restoration in your bath or shower, Take your time with it and believe me you will get clean. Good night sweethearts. ♥ PS. I would be hard pressed to leave this sanctuary. I'll keep dreaming till the dream comes. Y'all,, Sista-girl ain't had much sleep at all, but here's what...I'm tired from cooking and cleaning and washing and ironin'. Lol! Just wanna relax and take some time away from what bothers me. Confused a bit about...? Definitely need to sleep, but probably won't. I love what I'm doing, but it is scary with every hat I have to wear at this venture. There are opportunities to evolving and a purpose intended I have to fulfill. I am consciousness of what is happening. I agree with it. It's driving me, not me it. I'm saying "slow down." I'm so Duhduhduh! right now; so tired. Haha! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This, if not my first video is one of the first. Can you feel the/my love? God is so good! Yes he is! Everyone have a peaceful rest and bear with me while I lean to do what is that I must do. Love and peace in the middle and everywhere else. Be blessed in the Lord. Good night. ♥ "Good" humor is the best medicine. - either that's me or some other person I've been real busy working to get the site up and arrange my affairs to get legit. I'm still building on the stock needed to prepare for launch. I thought I'd post just because it's cathartic for me to release this energy so I can get some sleep. Anyway, I conducted a survey to get a feel how "Gorda," as a name for my soap will be received on market. I, of course, like the name for so many reasons (it's all in my head cooking up ideas), I think it's market savvy if I can convey what soap is and "why"??? my soap is "FAT." Haha! I feel it perfectly conveys what my product is. I'm holding on at least till survey comes in.
Gorda (f) is derived from the Spanish word for "fat" or "well-fed" --The origin of certain place names in the United States By Henry Gannett -------------------------------- gordo m (plural gordos) The grand prize in a lottery (jackpot!) (affective) Honey ¿Vamos al cine gordo? Can we go to the movie, honey? Gorda = FAT, "PHAT!", large, big, plump (implied) ... Hey how about this, "Grand Prize in the Lottery!" Soap is fat (mostly). And so is the size of my bars (8 oz/227 g is big!). Did you know Irish Spring wasn't a source of water before someone told you it was a bar of soap? Advertising and marketing is about getting into the consumer's head to influence by providing information the consumer wants to hear, but advertising teaches in the way of persuasion. I did some research off the cuff and came up with Bliss' "FATGIRL" soap line. They sell through Sephoria and other high-end venues. A well received product by a catchy name. So you think that doesn't inspire me? Another company, Big Fat Soap also takes pride in fat and is their claim to fame. If I am to follow anyone in the business I think I'd follow someone who has been there, has done the homework and is successfully doing "it." Caution: Take it all in, but know the final decision will be yours. Hard work. Other than researching I did soap a restock of Lemon-Lavender-Rosemary soap and cut it yesterday. Today I stamped the bars and set them up to cure. Gotta take some pics and post. I need to package the soaps that have cured to have ready for sell. In the meantime I should get some rest, so I'll say good night. Sleep well my friends. ♥ Boy, my brain is fried! While watching more listening than anything else, to Downton Abbey (repeat of season finale), the beginning of a new day, I think shall turn in. Sheeze! Building this website wasn't as easy (for me) as they say it is, but at least I'm started. Don't know when I will finish, but I would hope since it's supposed to be easy that soon it will be done. Must get done...Hey gotta edit some pics and stuff wasn't prepared as I thought. Really just testing the site's "waters" to see what I was working with. Anyway, I learned some things and curbing a little of my enthusiasm I will lay me down to sleep a bit, then start again. It's not hard at this point to look forward to blessings.
